Technical Documentation
Step-by-step installation guides, template hierarchies, theme.json configuration, and child theme best practices.
1. Theme Installation & Activation
To install a Premium Digital WordPress theme (such as ApexBusiness Pro):
- Download the theme zip file (e.g.
apexbusiness-pro-v1.0.0.zip) from the product page. - In your WordPress Admin, go to Appearance > Themes > Add New Theme > Upload Theme.
- Select the zip file and click Install Now, then click Activate.
- Ensure your server meets the baseline: PHP 8.0 or newer and WordPress 6.0+.
2. Theme Tokens & theme.json Styling
Premium Digital Themes use standard modern WordPress theme.json specifications (Version 2). This means you can adjust colors, fonts, and container widths directly inside the WordPress Site Editor without writing CSS:
- Palette Slugs:
primary(#1e3a8a),accent(#0284c7),dark(#0f172a),light(#f8fafc). - Typography: Native Inter font stack with predefined modular font size steps (small, medium, large, x-large, huge).
- Layout Constraints: Content width defaults to
840px; Wide alignment expands to1200px.
3. Turnkey Page Templates
Each starter kit provides dedicated, accessible page templates:
- Front Page (
front-page.php): Hero banner, feature highlights, and call-to-action blocks. - About Template (
template-about.php): Team mission, core principles, and narrative storytelling layout. - Services Template (
template-services.php): Structured pricing cards, scope checklist, and delivery timelines. - Contact Template (
template-contact.php): Accessible contact form with validation and semantic form controls. - FAQ Template (
template-faq.php): HTML5 accessible accordion components with schema metadata.
4. Child Themes & Customization
To make bespoke PHP or CSS changes that persist across theme updates, always create a standard WordPress child theme. Simply create a child directory (e.g. apexbusiness-pro-child) with a style.css declaring Template: apexbusiness-pro.
